NextStage is a theatre company focused on developing the careers of theatre artists and developing new works of dramatic art. NextStage is a company that is not about the company, but about the ... company? For career artists: Imagine a collaboration with an organization that innovates what the professional journey is by honing in on the Next Stage of your career and not the next way you can be used. For budding talents: Imagine a world where "educational theatre" is not about "tuition", but about paying young artists for the hours of work they put into productions. That's what NextStage is about. "Pay to play" is a thing of the past. Tuition based theatre is a thing of the past. The future of art will be built by you and we would love to be part of that journey. All ticketed events that NextStage asks actors and crew members to volunteer for are fundraisers for local organizations.
Rise Up Company flips the script on "educational theatre" by offering middle and high school actors paid opportunities to perform in musicals and plays. Offering an alternative to "pay-to-play" and "tuition-based" performance programs, Rise Up also allows young actors the opportunity to work one-on-one with local, touring, and Broadway mentors during the rehearsal process.
Marquee company is our professional production troupe at NextStage that features adult actors and some of our brightest Rise Up Company members.
Our Actor Development team is brand new and focuses on making sure the artists who work with NextStage have everything they need for the next stage in their careers. The Actor Development Company cheks in with performers at the end of every production and and can provides everything from professional headshots, to resume editing, and reference building for the journey ahead. This company also, from time to time, will offer one-off and month-long master classes with professional educators and performers from around the world.
Focused exclusively on high school seniors, this audition-only program is a collaborative with professional educators, Broadway actors, career performers, audition experts, and casting directors. Completely free of charge, Break Out helps young actors develop audition material over the course of an entire year through private lessons, classes, and showcases. Applications for this program will open up before the end of August, so check back soon!
